Eighty-year-old Japanese man Maruyama Gen rides a bicycle to the “9.18” Historical Museum in Shenyang city, Northeast China’s Liaoning province, July 27, 2015. Gen is cycling through northeast China to retrace the route he took to return to Japan in 1946 after Japan surrendered in World War II. Gen flew from Japan to Harbin, the capital of Heilongjiang Province, on July 12 with two friends in their 60s. He began his 1,000-km journey southward to Huludao, Liaoning province. Gen is calling for the young people in China and Japan to cherish peace. (Photo: China News Service/Sun Haosheng)
