Worshipers burn incense towers at Tianhou (Empress of Heaven) Temple in Shenzhen on May 10 to mark the 1055th anniversary of Mazu's birth, the Chinese goddess of sea who is said to protect seafarers, such as fishermen and sailors. Mazu was born in Meizhou, Fujian Province and she is widely worshiped in China's coastal regions, especially in Fujian, Guangdong, Zhejiang and Hainan. (Photo/youth.cn)
