A view of terraced fields at Lianhe township, Youxi county, East China’s Fujian province. The terraced fields, original built in the Tang Dynasty (618-907), stretch 10,717 mu (714 hectares) in eight villages, and become known as "the most beautiful terrace in China” as well as an important agricultural heritage site in China. Local government is now applying for the Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems (GIAHS) of FAO for the terraced fields. (Photo: China News Service/Wang Dongming)
