Xu Xiaomei displays a cross-stitch based on the famous painting ‘Along the River During the Qingming Festival’ in Yiwu, East China’s Zhejiang province. The original painting, by Zhang Zeduan during the Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127), depicts life along the banks of the Bianhe River, which flowed through Bianliang, then the capital city of the dynasty, now known as Kaifeng city in Henan province. It took Xu three years to finish the 22-meter-long cross-stitch. Xu owns a jewelry shop in Yiwu and finished the work during her pare time. (Photo: China News Service/Chen Xutian)
