Compared with the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025), China faces a more complex and challenging environment domestically and internationally in the upcoming 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-2030).

In the latest W.E. Talk program, Wan Zhe, an economic expert and professor at Beijing Normal University, and secretary-general of the Pangoal Institution academic committee, said that China's five-year plans serve as an important tool for national governance, not only providing long-term direction and strategic expectations for policymaking but also acting as a sustained driver of economic growth.

Wan noted that China is shifting its focus from deepening supply-side structural reform under the 14th Five-Year Plan to expanding domestic demand and fostering the leap of new quality productive forces, advancing unwaveringly toward the goal of building a great modern socialist country in the next five years.

She emphasized that China will continue to play a key role as a global supply chain hub. Through initiatives including the high-quality Belt and Road, China will keep injecting new momentum into the world economy and offer more opportunities for win-win cooperation. (Gong Weiwei, Zhang Dongfang)
