The 2025 Belt and Road Journalists Forum was held in Ganzhou, Jiangxi Province, themed "Promoting Civilizations Dialogue and Global Modernization with Power of Journalists," from July 14 to 20.
During the media trips to Ganzhou, one question was raised to global journalists: “As a journalist, what do you believe is the power of journalism?”
It was a question from one journalist to another.
“We have to see it from the perspective of the people,” said Derese Ayele, Executive Director of the Editors' Guild of Ethiopia. We have to tell the stories of how initiatives, like the Belt and Road Initiative, are changing the lives of people.
William Oloo, Secretary General of the Congress of African Journalists, remarked that journalists are communicators, with a responsibility to deliver meaningful messages across cultural contexts, fostering interconnectivity and social progress.
Sudewa Hettiarachchi, Senior Vice President of the Sri Lanka–China Journalists Forum, reflected on his 25-year career and said: "I think these kinds of forums gather people who have the same thoughts. I think we can do a change. We can do a difference." (Huang Fang)
