Giant pandas Xingyi and Yayi at the Guangzhou Zoological Garden in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, recently earned popularity online and drew many visitors as they were full of energy and able to understand Cantonese instructions.

Many people envy panda keepers for their close contact with giant pandas. However, it takes work to be a good panda keeper.

Panda keepers are responsible for cleaning and disinfecting the exhibition area, preparing food for the giant pandas, and conducting behavioral training. Xingyi and Yayi have an exclusive diet. They eat fresh bamboo, apples, pumpkins, and wotou, a Chinese steamed bread made from corn flour, oats, soybeans, and other ingredients daily.

To make giant pandas exercise more, the keepers will also hide apples and wotou in branches and toys for Xingyi and Yayi to climb up and down. In addition, the keepers also exercise the panda's hind limb strength.
