Quarantine-free travel between the Chinese mainland and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region resumed on Sunday morning.
Shenzhen's border control points at Futian Port and Shenzhen Bay Port saw thousands of travelers converging in the early morning of Sunday to travel each way between Hong Kong and the mainland without the need to quarantine for the first time in three years. The passengers will not be subject to quarantine, but need to provide a negative COVID-19 test result taken within 48 hours.
Jiang and her husband have been working in the United States for many years. This time they returned to the Chinese mainland via Hong Kong.
"It has been a while since I left my hometown Shenzhen," said Jiang, "I was really excited the moment I arrived in Hong Kong, not to mention the moment I saw Chinese lanterns in Shenzhen and felt the New Year's vibes."
