Normal travel between mainland and Hong Kong resumed as various control points linking Shenzhen and Hong Kong reopened on Sunday morning.

Several ports in Shenzhen, including Futian and Wenjindu, were decorated with red lanterns and flowers, sign boards such as "Welcome Home," "We are family" to welcome travelers from Hong Kong. Many travelers hopped on the first train from Hong Kong to Shenzhen, just to meet their family as fast as possible, and they said they are excited that they can finally spend the Chinese Lunar New Year, the most important festival in Chinese culture, with their family following a three-year absence.

Volunteers in rabbit costumes held welcome cards to greet the travelers from Hong Kong. A volunteer who arrived at th site at 4 a.m., said, "I want to welcome people from Hong Kong who haven't been home for three years in this way."
