(ECNS) -- The Chinese Foreign Ministry held an event on Wednesday to present Tibet to the world, showcasing its development achievements as well as a variety of characteristic local food and tourism products.
Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi delivered a speech at the event.
This year marks the 70th anniversary of the peaceful liberation of Tibet. Over the past 70 years, Tibet has undergone dramatic and historic changes and became a microcosm of China's leapfrog development.
Wang Yi said Tibet is a vivid portrayal of the progress in Chinese democracy and human rights since people of all ethnic groups can enjoy full and equal rights in all aspects.
It is also a window for opening-up, Wang said. The foreign ministry will support Tibet in promoting economic and social development, expanding opening-up and cooperation while maintaining its security, stability and national unity.
The theme of this presentation was "China on a New Journey: A New Chapter of Development for a Happy New Tibet" with Wang Junzheng, secretary of the CPC Tibet Autonomous Regional Committee and YanJinhai, acting chairman of the People's Government of the Tibet Autonomous Region both in attendance.
The ambassadors of Russia, Nepal, Nigeria and other countries to China also addressed the event.
So far, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China has held global promotion activities for 22 provinces and regions throughout the country.
