The Lhasa River, also known as the River Kyichu which means happiness in Tibetan language, is the major tributary of the Yarlung Zangbo River.

It is one of the highest-altitude rivers in the world and most mountains on both sides of the river are at an altitude of 3,600 to 5,500 meters.
