An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.5 jolted 17 km south of Searles Valley, in the U.S. state of California at 18:32 on Wednesday local time (0132 GMT Thursday), the U.S. Geological Survey said.
The temblor was felt in surrounding counties, but there were no immediate reports of damage or casualties from the quake, according to local media reports.
