In the face of pneumonia cases in central Chinese city of Wuhan, the government of China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) has strengthened prevention and control measures, the HKSAR Chief Executive Carrie Lam said Friday.

During an inspection of the West Kowloon Station, Lam said the government has enhanced health surveillance measures at all boundary control points.

Although no serious pneumonia cases related to those in Wuhan have been detected in Hong Kong so far, the Hospital Authority and the Department of Health have informed their health care staff to stay vigilant, Lam said.

All relevant government departments have been well prepared and have made necessary arrangements, Lam said, adding that the government will also announce daily the number of cases to increase transparency.

During the inspection, Lam was briefed about health surveillance measures at the boundary control point, including the provision of health information, body temperature checks on inbound travelers by the thermal imaging system, and following up on travelers with fevers.
