CHINA'S SOLUTIONS, CONTRIBUTIONS

Gao Fu, director of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, shared China's solutions for the pandemic during an online panel discussion at the summit.

The key to China's success in controlling a number of epidemic outbreaks, according to Gao, was its ability to quickly identify the source of the disease and cut the chain of transmission by effective disease control departments of all levels in China.

Gao also said that the construction of the headquarters of the African Center for Disease Control and Prevention, which is supported by China, has entered the final stage.

"Our deepest congratulations go to the front-line health workers in China and the population who worked together tirelessly to bring the disease to this very low level," said Dr. Michael Ryan, executive director of WHO's Health Emergencies Program, at a routine WHO press briefing in September.

Ryan attributed to China's success to a "huge partnership between communities, scientific institutions, public health institutions in the government" and "a lot of cooperation, very sustained commitment to getting the job done."

Sylwester Szafarz, former consul general of Poland in Shanghai, China, told Xinhua that the behavior and activities of the Chinese people are particularly remarkable and precious amid the pandemic.

"They are aiming at sharing valuable Chinese experience and expertise, modern equipment and highly qualified medical personnel with numerous other nations in need, thus reducing the danger and scope of the pandemic and its harmful global consequences. This is the famous Chinese humanism in international action, which is the community with a shared future for mankind," said Szafarz, who is also an expert on international issues.
