Chinese President Xi Jinping has pledged to deepen the China-Kyrgyzstan comprehensive strategic partnership and expand cooperation in security, infrastructure and non-governmental exchanges, in a signed article published in local media ahead of his state visit to the Central Asian country.

Xi said the bilateral relationship has grown fast over the past six years, and the two countries decided to upgrade it to a comprehensive strategic partnership last year.

The bilateral ties have set an example of a new type of state relations featuring mutual respect, equality and win-win cooperation, he noted.

Xi said China wants to deepen Belt and Road cooperation with Kyrgyzstan in areas such as agriculture, infrastructure and connectivity, and promote trade and investment facilitation.

China also wants to strengthen cooperation with Kyrgyzstan in fighting terrorism, separatism and extremism as well as drug-trafficking and transnational crimes, he went on to say.

Xi also said the two sides need to expand cooperation in education, technology, youth, culture and media.

The Chinese president also called for cooperation under international organizations such as Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), and the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA).
