Li Shixiang, former vice deputy secretary and former vice chairman of Beijing Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), has been expelled from Communist Party of China (CPC) for serious violations of Party disciplinary rules and law, said the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) and the National Supervisory Commission on Sunday.

Li, 60, had been under investigation for "severe disciplinary violations" by the top anti-graft agency.

The probe found Li had lost his "political stance," took advantage of his power to make personal gains and accepted gifts illegally.

His illegal gains have been confiscated and the case was transferred to judicial bodies.
