China's three major food delivery platforms — Ele.me, Meituan, and JD.com — have rolled out low-price strategies recently. In a bid to capture a larger market share, the three platforms have increased subsidies and launched various promotional activities, such as Meituan's "100 billion yuan subsidy" plan.

China's top market regulator, the State Administration for Market Regulation, has called on the country's three major food delivery platforms to regulate their promotional activities and engage in rational competition.

This directive follows a regulatory talk on competition in the food delivery sector held by the state administration with the three platforms. During the meeting, the administration emphasized the importance of complying with the country's laws on e-commerce, anti unfair competition, and food safety.

The top market regulator urged the platforms to work together to promote the healthy and sustained development of the catering service industry. The platforms were also reminded of their responsibilities to ensure fair competition and protect consumer rights.
