(ECNS) -- The 3rd China International Supply Chain Expo (CISCE) is being held in Beijing from Wednesday to Sunday. At the event, Chinese human-carrying electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft EH216-S drew wide attention.
In an exclusive interview with China News Network, EHang Vice President He Tianxing said the “air taxi” features a unique power system design and independent system backups, allowing it to maintain stable flight even if a rotor fails, thus preventing power loss and ensuring passenger safety.
In addition, thanks to its autonomous flight mode, the cost of taking this aircraft is expected to drop significantly. In the future, a one-way ticket may cost only one-third of the price of traditional general aviation flights, down to just a few hundred yuan, comparable to ride-hailing prices.
In April, U.S. influencer IShowSpeed took EH216-S at Shenzhen during his China travel. Speed recorded the entire flight with a selfie camera and enthusiastically exclaimed upon landing, saying “It was safe”.
As a representative of new quality productive forces, the low-altitude economy is entering a stage of practical implementation. The "air taxi" has already begun commercial trial operations for select customers, marking a solid step toward enabling free flight in low-altitude airspace.
