Special: The Second China International Import Expo

Hong Kong companies voiced strong support for the ongoing second China International Import Expo (CIIE), calling it a great opportunity to explore the mainland market.

"The expo is an excellent opportunity to expand influence and business," said Simon Cheung, strategies director for international M&A and taxation of Global CPA (HK) Ltd.

Many mainland companies have set up their Hong Kong branches through the accounting firm since it attended the first expo last year, he said.

The CIIE can facilitate overseas companies to enter the mainland market, while mainland enterprises can also leverage Hong Kong's business advantages and professional services to "go global," said Alax Chik, partner of Asiapac Consultants Ltd.

Palmer and Turner Consultants is one of the exhibitors from Hong Kong that attended the annual expo for the second time. Regarding the CIIE as a wonderful display platform, Director Joe Ma said with so many countries represented at the expo, it is a cost effective way for companies to promote their products and services to global investors.

CIIE is the world's first import-themed national-level expo. A total of 155 countries and regions as well as 26 international organizations are taking part in this year's expo that runs from Nov. 5 to 10. Nearly 3,900 companies are attending the business exhibitions.

Over 200 Hong Kong companies are attending the expo this year, with their combined exhibition area ranking fourth largest among all countries and regions.
