Special: China's First Import Expo

China's economy posts stable and sound growth and will continue to maintain its trend of steady development, said Chinese President Xi Jinping at the opening ceremony of the China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai on Monday.

China's gross domestic product (GDP) expanded 6.7 percent year-on-year in the first three quarters. In the third quarter alone, China's GDP rose 6.5 percent year-on-year, meeting the expected goals. The grain output is expected to maintain over 600 billion kilograms this year. Some 11.07 million new jobs were created from January to September, completing the annual target three months early.

China's economic outlook maintains positive as the fundamentals of China's economy, factors and conditions supporting high quality development and overall trend of sound and steady development remain unchanged. The macro-control ability enhanced and the country's reform and opening up gathered new momentum. Investment and trade cooperation with countries along the Belt and Road also accelerated.

Amid uncertainties in the global economic climate, China's economy encountered a few problems and conflicts, with difficulties and challenges rising in some sectors. However, the world's second largest economy is actively tackling these issues and the results have been witnessed in the recent past.

Moving forward, China will continue to deepen and enhance the reform and opening up process in a comprehensive way and advance the supply-side structural reform, leading the Chinese economy on a high quality development track.
