(ECNS) -- Beijing Tongzhou Railway Station, located within the integrated transport hub of the capital's sub-center, was officially put into operation on Tuesday.
With the opening of the new station, Beijing has become the first city in China to operate eight first-class railway passenger stations while hosting two major international airports.
Local authorities said under the regular timetable, trains from Beijing Tongzhou Station can reach Tangshan, Baodi, Beichen and Qinhuangdao cities in Hebei Province in as little as 55 minutes, 26 minutes, 56 minutes and 90 minutes, respectively, significantly reducing travel time between the major cities.
The new station is expected to further narrow spatial and temporal distances across the region and play an important role in promoting coordinated development of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei.
