(ECNS) — The number 14 became a recurring symbol on Wednesday morning as a grand gathering was held at Tian'anmen Square to mark the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.
From uniforms and parade formations to the aerial display, the figure 14 was deliberately embedded to honor the 14-year-long resistance of the Chinese nation.
Volunteers at the venue wore uniforms featuring 14 stripes, symbolizing solidarity and the united will of the Chinese people during the protracted struggle.
In the march-past that followed the honor guard of the armed forces, the Army formation included 14 rows of troops, once again evoking the 14 years of resistance.
In the skies, seven J-10 fighter jets concluded the aerial performance by releasing 14 trails of colored smoke, a tribute to the nation's heroic wartime journey and a symbol of the bright future that over 1.4 billion Chinese people have pursued.
