(ECNS) -- A Chinese mainland spokesperson said on Wednesday that Taiwan compatriots are welcome to share the development opportunities of the internet sector.
Zhu Fenglian, a spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, made the remarks at a press conference in Beijing.
She noted that online social platforms such as Douyin and Bilibili have clear regulations for netizens, including Taiwan compatriots, to open channels.
"As long as Taiwan compatriots submit applications in accordance with the rules and pass the review, they can all open accounts to share information with netizens on the Chinese mainland," she said.
"We welcome Taiwan compatriots to share the development opportunities of the mainland's internet sector, and are glad to see netizens from both sides of the Taiwan Strait enhance mutual understanding, learn from each other, follow and like each other's content, and promote friendship and well-being on the basis of complying with the Chinese mainland's laws and regulations as well as the rules of relevant online social platforms," she added.
