(ECNS) -- China's Ministry of Commerce (MOC), along with five other government departments, kicked off a nationwide "Shopping in China" campaign to stimulate consumption during the 5th China International Consumer Products Expo (CICPE) in Haikou, south China's Hainan Province.
The campaign will focus on debut economy, a catchall phrase to describe companies launching new products, introducing new business models, services and technologies, and opening flagship stores.
It will also hold an array of activities centering on premium retail, dining, tourism, and cultural events, according to the notice released by the MOC.
Key commercial districts, shopping malls, supermarkets, outlet stores, and tax-refund shops are encouraged to organize promotional campaigns to help consumers access global goods at favorable prices and calls for activities like food festivals, culinary exchanges, and ingredient expos to recommend food list, dining maps, and renowned restaurants.
Meanwhile, the campaign will launch a selection of premium travel routes and import or hold high-quality international performances, elite sporting events, and premium cultural and museum exhibitions.
The MOC said the program aims to enhance China's appeal as a global consumption market by integrating commerce, tourism, and cultural experiences.
