(ECNS) -- The 2025 Wuzhou Half Marathon kicked off on Sunday in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, attracting 20,000 enthusiasts from countries including China, Singapore, South Africa, Japan, and Kenya to compete.
The event, themed "A Millennium-old City, Brilliant Wuzhou", set up three race categories: half marathon, 10-kilometer run, and fun run.

Ethiopia's Leta Girma and Tadesse Betselot Andualem won the men's and women's half marathon titles, respectively. Chinese mainland runners Li Xiaohong and He Fang claimed the first place respectively in the men's and women's 10-kilometer run.
This year's race route primarily followed an urban course, starting from the Wuzhou city library and extending to the municipal square. Along the way, there are iconic city landmarks such as the Longyu roundabout and Yuanjiang bridge.
The event was certified by the Chinese Athletics Association and co-hosted by the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Sports Bureau and the Wuzhou municipal government.
