(ECNS) -- China has unveiled a new train that will be used on Beijing's new airport subway line scheduled for testing in September.

With a designed speed of 160 kilometers an hour, it is the fastest of all China’s subway trains. Currently, the speed of most subway trains is 80 km/h.

The train will run on a 40-km line linking Daxing International Airport and Caoqiao subway station in downtown Beijing, a journey of about 19 minutes. Passengers can also transfer to subway Line 10 at Caoqiao station as well as Line 19 currently under construction.

The train is further capable of fully automated driverless operation, a first in the country.

Each train has a business class carriage, also a first in the country. The eight-carriage train, at about 22.8 meters long and 3.3 meters wide, will be able to carry a maximum of 1,500 passengers.

Experts said the train takes full advantage of China’s technological progress and experience in running other intercity rail lines to ensure the best safety, reliability and user experience while saving energy.
