(ECNS) -- Popular Chinese mobile game King of Glory, developed by Tencent Games, has enhanced its anti-addiction system to strictly adopt real-name registration with users identities verified by police data.

The multiplayer online battle arena can now accurately determine whether a user is a minor based on provided real-name information and then decide if the user will be included in its anti-addiction system.

In June 2017, Tencent implemented a filter mechanism known as the "health system", limiting minors 12 years old and younger to playing one hour a day between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m.. Those aged 13 to 18 can play two hours a day any time they choose.

The latest upgrade for the iOS version is expected to be officially launched around Sept. 15 with all new users required to complete the most stringent verification requirement this month.

Police data is mainly used in industries such as finance, credit, and government services. It is the first time a game platform has adopted such stringent verification in China.

Tencent said it would link user data with police information among other game products and continue to implement the real-name system.

Besides, the Internet giant said it will continue to research and test various new technologies to protect minors.
