The Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) said Friday that there is irrefutable evidence that the United States intended to destabilize Hong Kong and stressed that the U.S. plot of using Hong Kong to contain China's development will prove to be in vain.

The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs published on Friday the "Fact Sheet: U.S. Interference in Hong Kong Affairs and Support for Anti-China, Destabilizing Forces," which laid bare how the United States instigated unrest in Hong Kong since 2019 and promoted its hegemony, a spokesperson of the liaison office said.

China will make necessary and justified counter-actions against all words and deeds that interfere in its internal affairs and damage national interests and dignity, the spokesperson said.

From imposing reciprocal sanctions on individuals and a entity from the United States to enacting the Anti-Foreign Sanctions Law and publishing the fact sheet, China has fully demonstrated its firm determination, willpower and capability of opposing external interference, the spokesperson said.

Hong Kong is on an unstoppable trend from chaos to stability and prosperity, the spokesperson said.

With continuous improvements to the governance system of "one country, two systems," Hong Kong will achieve long-term stability and prosperity, which is conducive to the well-being of Hong Kong people and to investors from all the countries in the world, including the United States, the spokesperson said.

Urging the United States to recognize the historic trend, the spokesperson emphasized that any external force that attempts to "use Hong Kong to contain China" will suffer a crushing defeat in the face of China's ironclad will of safeguarding national interests.
