Xi salutes Cambodian party on landmark

Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, congratulated the Cambodian People's Party, or CPP, on Monday on the 70th anniversary of its founding, and called for advancing the building of the China-Cambodia community with a shared future.

In a congratulatory message sent to CPP President Samdech Techo Hun Sen, Xi said China and Cambodia are "iron-clad friends" and "a community with a shared future" with their relations having long maintained high-level development.

On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the CPP's founding, he would like to extend warm congratulations to Hun Sen, the CPP and the Cambodian people on behalf of the CPC, the Chinese people and in his own name, Xi said.

He said that for a long time, the CPP has been rallying and leading the Cambodian people in advancing the cause of national construction and development, making positive contributions to regional stability and prosperity.

China will, as always, support Cambodia in pursuing a development path that suits its national conditions, Xi said. He expressed the confidence that under the leadership of Hun Sen, the CPP will continue to make new and greater contributions to the prosperity of Cambodia and the well-being of the Cambodian people, as well as to regional peace and development.

Mutual support

Xi mentioned that the two countries' mutual support and assistance from the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, which, he said, have vividly demonstrated their unbreakable and everlasting friendship with concrete actions.

Saying the CPC highly values its friendly cooperation with the CPP, Xi pointed out that he is willing to work with Hun Sen to strengthen the political guidance for the relations between the two countries and between the two parties, deepen inter-party exchanges and cooperation in various fields and promote the building of the China-Cambodia community with a shared future to benefit both countries and the two peoples.
