Xinjiang sees increasing agri-products trade

Urumqi Customs in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region said they handled the trade of 3.95 billion yuan (573 million U.S. dollars) worth of agricultural products in the first half of the year, up 33.5 percent year on year.

The region's total agri-product export and import reached 917,000 tonnes over the past six months, up 18.1 percent year on year, according to Urumqi Customs.

Walnuts and apples were among the major exports and sunflower seeds, safflower seeds and frozen fish were among the major imports.

A total of 44,000 tonnes of fruits and vegetables, worth 449 million yuan, were exported through the Horgos Port since its green channel for customs clearance started trial run in March, accounting for 45.02 percent of the region's total fruit and vegetable exports in H1.

Apples, oranges, tangerines and dried mushrooms were among the major exports through the Horgos Port. According to the Horgos Customs, customs clearance time was shortened by 21 percent through the green channel.
