English Premier League giant Liverpool Football Club is hosting youth coaches from nine Chinese Super League sides in a bid to share knowledge and strengthen ties.

The six-day visit, which began on Thursday, offers the Chinese coaches a chance to learn more about youth soccer in the English top-flight.

The Chinese Super League visitors have participated in a tour of Anfield, the stadium that is home to Liverpool FC, followed by a trip to the Reds' training academy and a chance to see the under-23 side working with Liverpool coaches.

Zhao Shuo, a youth coach from Shandong Luneng Taishan FC, said: "We are delighted to have been given the opportunity to come along to such a prestigious English football club to share best practice and learn more about coaching standards in the Premier League."

In addition to learning about the training process of a top Premier League club, the visitors have been offered insights into match preparation and delivery and about nutrition for young players.

"Alongside the development of our players in the Chinese Super League, coach education is equally important to ensure the growth and success of the game in China," Zhao said. "This is a fantastic opportunity for us to gain an insight into the planning of training and matches for youth sides in the Premier League, so we can bring the very best of both local culture and international standards to our young players."

Liverpool is the fifth most popular soccer team among online fans in China, behind fourth-placed Arsenal, according to research by China digital marketing, technology, and investment group Mailman, which looked into data from Chinese social media platforms WeChat and Weibo. Manchester United finished top, followed by Spanish giants Real Madrid and Germany's Bayern Munich.

Earlier this year, Liverpool Football Club announced a new youth coaching project in China that will be offered to students at some schools in the city of Kunming. The project will offer a combination of player development and education for local coaches.
