The 10th International Animation Copyright Exposition kicked off on Thursday in Dongguan, southwest China's Guangdong Province. Aiming to protect intellectual property rights and to encourage original works, this year's event has gathered hundreds of companies in the industry to seek higher quality development.

The event provides domestic companies with access to leaders in the industry by inviting representatives from international companies such as Disney and Marvel.

Animations such as “Smurfs,” “Finding Nemo,” “How to Train Your Dragon,” and “101 Dalmatians” are all familiar to Chinese fans. The directors and producers of these works gathered at the exhibition to share their stories, and some of the international exhibitors even brought their IP to seek future cooperation with their Chinese counterparts.

Chinese exhibitors brought a lot of outstanding works here as well such as “Go Brother!”, “The Westward” by Tencent, “Battle through the Heaven” by China Literature Limited, and many other beloved works.

Lin Zhengde, who made a cartoon based on the classic martial arts novel “The Deer and the Cauldron," believed the expo provides cartoonists like him with a very good platform. “I hope to find more like-minded people to spread excellent Chinese traditional culture together,” said Lin.

The International Animation Copyright Exposition has taken place since 2009, giving a platform for domestic and foreign companies access to resources for collaboration, and encouraging the development of the Chinese animation industry.

The event runs from November 15 to 18.
