The "magical window" system has only been installed on Line 6 of the Beijing subway and is still in its trial phase. Under the system, a number of LED display screens have been installed above the doors and on the windows of subway cars. The windows seem normal when the train is stationary, but soon light up and start displaying information as soon as it starts to move.

The information shown on the screens includes the current location and route of the train, a three-dimensional diagram of the next station, and the locations of the station's service facilities.

The system is one of the new measures launched for the building of a smart subway network.
