Liu Xiang, the most efficient

Though not yet retired, "Air" Liu is more than an Olympic Gold medalist and world champion, he is also "Doctor" Liu.

Liu entered East China Normal University in 2001 and was awarded as an "Outstanding Student" in 2004. In the following five years, Liu finished his graduate and PhD studies in Sports Management.

Not only the most commercially successful athlete in China, but also a cultural icon, Liu now ranks as one of the most popular celebrities to the Chinese.

Liu Guodong, the unlucky

Currently working for the Indonesian Table Tennis Federation, Liu Guodong is without a doubt a successful table tennis coach. Under his guidance, the Singapore women's table tennis team gained a silver medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

However, as a student, he didn't make the grade. In 2005, Liu entered Shanghai Jiaotong University, the same as Yao Ming, yet dropped out in 2009 due to low scores. Liu became the first world champion athlete to not graduate from the university.
