(ECNS) -- Heilongjiang Province in northeast China has signed contracts to transmit more than 20 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity to other regions this year for the first time, with clean electricity accounting for 13.711 billion kWh, State Grid Heilongjiang Electric Power Co. said Wednesday.
As of Nov. 1, the province's contracted outbound electricity volume had reached a record high, with the supply covering 20 provincial-level regions across six major areas of China: northeast, north, east, central, northwest and southwest, the company said.
Heilongjiang is a major clean energy base in northern China, with potential for wind and solar power development. The province expects installed wind and solar power capacity to account for more than 65% of its total installed capacity by 2030, doubling from the current level.
The province is expanding its power grid to support the growth of renewable energy and electricity transmission. Of the 13 500-kilovolt projects under construction in 2026, six are dedicated to connecting new energy sources to the grid.
During the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-2030), State Grid Heilongjiang Electric Power Co. will advance the construction of ultra-high-voltage transmission projects, including a transmission channel for the clean energy base in eastern Heilongjiang and a supporting project in Heilongjiang for the Songliao clean energy base's ultra-high-voltage direct current transmission project to north China.
The company said it will also accelerate the construction of 500-kilovolt new energy substations and add nearly 30 million kW of capacity to connect new energy sources to the grid and support the growth of electricity transmission.
