China records 6.71 million inbound, outbound passenger trips during Mid-Autumn Festival holiday

(ECNS) -- China recorded a total of 6.71 million inbound and outbound passenger trips during this year's Mid-Autumn Festival holiday from Sept. 25 to 27, representing a year-on-year increase of 16.8%, data from the National Immigration Administration (NIA) showed.

Daily average border crossings stood at 2.236 million, with the single-day peak hitting 2.342 million on Sept. 26, according to the NIA.

Chinese mainland residents made 3.206 million border-crossing trips, up 5.3% from the same period last year, while residents from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan registered 2.775 million entries and exits, a year-on-year surge of 27.7%.

Foreign nationals recorded 728,000 crossings, marking a 37.7% year-on-year growth. Of all foreign arrivals, 247,000 entered China under the visa exemption policy, rising 32.7% year-on-year.

Border inspection authorities also cleared 309,000 inbound and outbound transport vehicles, an increase of 8.6% compared with last year's Mid-Autumn holiday period.
