China respects U.S. choice of term 'super intelligence': FM spokesperson

(ECNS) -- China respects the U.S. side's choice of the term "super intelligence," a Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson said Saturday.

The spokesperson made the remarks in response to a question about the use of the term "super intelligence" instead of "artificial intelligence" in the U.S. readout on the outcomes of the recently concluded state visit.

The two presidents had an in-depth discussion on artificial intelligence during the visit, the spokesperson said.

On what term to use for artificial intelligence, China attaches importance to the position of the U.S. side and respects its choice of the term, the spokesperson said.

The advancement of artificial intelligence is an ongoing process, and parties can have more communication and in-depth exchange of views to seek consensus in light of how the process may evolve, the spokesperson added.
