(ECNS) -- Cross-border RMB receipts and payments between China and ASEAN reached 9.436 trillion yuan ($1.41 trillion) in 2025, up 5.99% year on year, according to a report released Tuesday by the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Branch of the People’s Bank of China.
Cross-border RMB settlement for trade in goods totaled 2.591 trillion yuan ($386.1 billion), up 6.29% year on year.
The report also noted that the Cross-border Interbank Payment System (CIPS) added 41 participants in 2025. RMB clearing banks have been established in six ASEAN countries: Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, Laos and Cambodia.
According to the report, ASEAN has long ranked among the leading regions for cross-border RMB use, as trade, investment and financial ties with China continue to deepen.
