China-Laos Railway cargo tops 90 million metric ton

(ECNS) -- The China-Laos Railway has handled more than 90 million metric ton of cargo since it began operations, the Kunming branch of China Railway said.

Of the total, crossborder shipments exceeded 21 million tons. The line has operated more than 80,000 freight trains, including over 23,000 crossborder services.

Since the beginning of 2026, the railway has handled an average of more than 67,000 metric ton of cargo per day.

Officials said the milestone underscores the railway’s growing role as a “golden corridor” for international logistics, strengthening trade links between China and Southeast Asia.
