(ECNS) -- Shanghai Port has supplied 36,000 metric tons of green methanol since China’s first bunkering operation in April 2024, ranking first among major global ports, Shanghai Customs said Monday.
Over the weekend, bunkering vessel Haigang Zhiyuan delivered 8,016 tons of domestically produced green methanol to the dualfuel container ship CMA CGM Osium, setting a world record for the largest single operation.
To meet rising demand, Shanghai Customs has introduced 10 facilitation measures for internationalvoyage vessels and built a digital closedloop supervision system for greenfuel bunkering. The model shortens turnaround times and reduces logistics costs.
Officials said the port’s leadership in green-methanol supply underscores China’s push to modernize shipping and expand cleanfuel adoption worldwide.
