(ECNS) -- China has cleared and disposed of more than 60 million metric tons of solid waste since June 2025 under a nationwide campaign against illegal dumping and disposal, Vice Minister of Ecology and Environment Li Gao said Thursday at a press conference in Beijing.

Authorities have identified more than 56,000 problems during the campaign, with over 45,000 rectified. Monitoring combines satellite and drone technology with ground inspections, public reports and tips exposed by online media.

Illegal dumping in karst caves has also been a focus. More than 80,000 cases have been inspected in key provinces, with over 8,000 problems identified and more than half rectified.

Li said the ministry will continue the campaign while strengthening full-chain oversight of solid waste to prevent illegal disposal.
