(ECNS)-- Chinese and Indonesian naval forces will conduct a joint navigation exercise in waters east of China’s Taiwan Island in mid-August, China’s Ministry of National Defense announced on Tuesday.
During the exercise, frigates from the two navies will carry out a series of drills, focusing primarily on communications and maritime replenishment operations.
The exercise is aimed at enhancing coordination and joint operational capabilities between the two navies, deepening practical cooperation, and jointly safeguarding regional peace and stability, according to the ministry.
