(ECNS) -- China Huaneng Group and Sinochem Holdings held flag-raising ceremonies Thursday in Xiong'an New Area, Hebei Province, becoming the first central state-owned enterprises to officially relocate to the region, according to local authorities.
Over 1,000 employees from China Huaneng's headquarters and affiliated units are now working regularly in Xiong'an New Area. Similarly, nearly 1,000 staff from Sinochem Holdings have begun work at their new offices.
The successful relocation and full-scale operation of China Huaneng and Sinochem Holdings demonstrate the enhanced capacity of Xiong'an to support the relocation of major central enterprises, setting an example for the future.
China Huaneng, a key state-owned backbone enterprise approved by the State Council, has a registered capital of 20 billion yuan. Its main businesses include the development, construction, operation of power generation, and the production and sales of electricity and heat.
As another major state-owned enterprise, Sinochem Holdings employs around 220,000 people. Its business spans eight major areas, including life sciences, materials science, petrochemicals, environmental science, rubber and tires, machinery and equipment, urban operations, and industrial finance.
