Comicomment: A scripted duet taken too far

As July 12 marks the anniversary of the issuance of the so-called South China Sea arbitration award, the Philippines, the United States, and others routinely engage in a campaign to hype this illegal and invalid ruling. This politically motivated exercise not only distorts the facts and international law concerning the South China Sea but also blatantly disregards China’s indisputable sovereignty as well as its legitimate maritime rights and interests.

China has always adhered to the principles of building the South China Sea into a sea of peace, friendship, and cooperation: equal-footed consultation, rule-based co-management, mutually-beneficial cooperation, and a constructive role.

History will ultimately prove that the U.S.-Philippines scheme to stir up trouble is bound to fail, and the farce of manipulation will collapse in the face of truth and justice.
