(ECNS) -- The world's first panoramic trainin dependently developed by China officially began operation in Lijiang City, Yunnan Province on Wednesday.
The train runs on a 20.46-kilometerline at a designed speed of 70 kilometers per hour.
The train travels through multiple tourist sites including the UNESCO world cultural heritage site Lijiang Old Town, the national 5A scenic spot Yulong Snow Mountain, Baisha Ancient Town, Yushui Village, Dongba Valley and Ganhaizi Meadow.
To enhance the sightseeing experience, the train features 1.9-meter large curved windows that are electrically adjustable, with color-changing and UV protection features. Passengers can enjoy breathtaking views of nature from the train.
The sightseeing train operates round trips between the tourists center and Yulong Snow Mountain from 7:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a minimum departure interval of 12 minutes. The journey will take 35 minutes to go from the visitors' center to Yulong Snow Mountain.
In the initial phase of operation, the one-way ticket fare is 50 yuan($7) per person, and the round-trip ticket fare is 80 yuan per person. Discounted or free tickets are available for children, active-duty military personnel, firefighters, rescue workers, people with disabilities, and tour guides.
The operation of the rail line will help boost the improvement of the tourism services and related industries along the route, further promoting Lijiang's goal of becoming a world-renowned cultural tourism destination.
