This episode tells the story of Jiebao, an ecological ranger who mends the nests of life with his own hands and measures the boundaries of civilization with his footsteps.
At an altitude of 4,200 meters, where oxygen is less than half of that in the plains, he negotiates with wind and snow time and again at the source of the Yellow River. It also recounts the tale of Guanque Zhuoma, an elderly Tibetan woman who voluntarily founded a herdswomen's environmental protection group, guarding Mount Animaqing and traditional Tibetan handicrafts in the most simple and earnest way.
The goodwill of humanity will ultimately become the power sustaining nature. The figures of these "guardians of the source" will eventually fade into the vast grasslands, yet the paths they have trodden and every life they have guarded have transformed into the most solid ecological barrier in the upper reaches of the Yellow River's source.
As the wheel of civilization rolls forward, there will always be those who choose to be the last watchers of the earth. They turn their reverence for nature into a gentle touch upon the land, composing the most touching poems on this piece of earth.
