Malaysia and China have enjoyed 50 years of friendly relations and are now entering a new golden 50 years of bilateral ties, John Pang, former advisor of Malaysia Prime Minister's Office and senior fellow of Belt and Road Caucus for Asia Pacific, said during an interview with China News Network at Beijing Xiangshan Forum Navigator Meeting 2025.
He noted that Malaysia recognizes one-China principle and one single sovereignty, which resides in Beijing, and “that’s not in dispute.”
On January 1, 2025, Malaysia officially became a BRICS partner country. Pang noted that, as the ASEAN chair this year, Malaysia is committed to fostering friendly relations between BRICS and ASEAN, and to building a peaceful world order based on mutual respect and cooperation. (Gong Weiwei)
