China's Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said on Tuesday that China welcomed and highly praised the Central American Parliament's decision to remove the Taiwan region as "a permanent observer".
The six-nation Parlacen gathered in the Nicaraguan city of Managua on Monday and approved 73 to 32 in a vote to include China as its permanent observer.
Speaking at a regular news briefing, Wang said this once again proves that standing up for the one-China principle is an unstoppable trend of the times and the right thing to do.
China is ready to develop friendly cooperation with Parlacen on the basis of the one-China principle, he said.
