Mainland vows lifetime accountability for alleged 'Taiwan independence' accomplice

(ECNS) — A Chinese mainland spokesperson said Wednesday that Chen Shuyi, a prosecutor with Taiwan's High Prosecutors Office, has been listed as an accomplice and henchman of "Taiwan independence" forces and will be held legally accountable for life.

Chen Binhua, spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, said at a regular press briefing that the prosecutor has fabricated charges and persecuted Taiwan individuals who support cross-Strait exchange and cooperation, while intimidating the public amid a climate of so-called "green terror."

The spokesperson said the mainland would continue gathering evidence of Chen's suspected illegal activities on both sides of the Taiwan Strait and encouraged the public to submit relevant information and leads through designated reporting channels.

"Based on the facts and in accordance with the law, we will impose severe punishment and pursue lifetime legal responsibility," Chen said
