(ECNS) — China will ramp up efforts to advance the large-scale commercial application of artificial intelligence, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) said Friday.
Jiang Yi, director of the Policy Research Office at NDRC, said at a press briefing that China will implement its "AI Plus" initiative to accelerate AI integration across industries.
With rapid advances in AI technology and growing demand for intelligent solutions, AI holds strong potential to address complex real-world challenges, improve productivity, and reduce costs, Jiang noted.
He emphasized that the country is at a key stage for AI application, with new smart products and scenarios, including intelligent connected vehicles, wearables, smart homes, and service robots, playing a growing role in both industry and daily life.
The NDRC and other agencies plan to expand the "AI Plus" initiative, with approval from the State Council.
Jiang said the NDRC will steer market efforts and support practical implementation measures.
